• Artist Statement

  Hostile architecture uses design to limit the physical activities of people who use public spaces most - youth, low-income, or unhoused people. It may look innocent at first glance -- perhaps metal studs on concrete or bars in the middle of park benches -- but ultimately they serve to keep out the public, making so much public infrastructure uncomfortable or unusable. Is that a waste of public resources?

• Creative Statement

  Creativity is a way of thinking beyond the usual essays and logic we do at school. It can be a liberation from gravity, laws, and expectations, but only if I please. I only regret how the vividness of creativity cannot always be captured in the boundaries of a physical medium.
