Cat Sun-bathing by Window

Watercolor and Prismacolor pencils

  • At first, I wanted to watercolor a picture I had taken of my cat. However, the watercolors were mixing weirdly, leaving the paper splotchy and muddy. I finished the base color with watercolors and then decided to use colored pencils to blend and harmonize the colors. Applying the pencil onto the watercolor was difficult, but after blending layers after layers the color pencil was able to enhance the piece.

  • To me, creativity means the freedom to create whatever you please. When people are being creative, they shouldn’t let anything hold them back. They should let their ideas spill onto the paper, no matter how impossible or difficult it may be. Artistic expression is limitless and shouldn’t have any rules.
