  • Students collaborated in our Advanced Performance Dance group led by our senior Leilaney P.. Our journey in this artwork began with a shared love for dance, not only as a team but as a family. Our main goal in the creative process was to create joyful moments through choreography, allowing any audience to connect with the dancers. This is shown through little moments within our choreography, where we look at each other naturally while we dance intricately, sharing a smile on our faces. Our artistic process involved improvisation, teamwork, and overcoming challenges together as 5 seniors chose to make this piece in a week to showcase the talents of our team. The reason behind our art wasn't just about impressing the audience. It went deeper as we aimed to strengthen the bonds within our dance and city community. The El Camino Advanced Dance Program tackles many performances and various styles of choreography throughout each year. However, in creating this piece, it easily became one close to our hearts as it encompassed not only our ability to create, retain, and execute choreography but also our ability to have fun in doing something we all love; dance. In essence, our art is more than entertaining; it's about creating joy and unity within our close group and the community around us.

  • Creativity is truly living and being authentically you. The way you express yourself and the way you show up in the world is a connection to use all your senses, your brain, body, past memories and future aspirations to create and heal.
