Soul Strings & Mother

Diya S.

  • Poem "Soul Strings": I have always believed in order to love someone else you need to solidify yourself. Including the idea that the connection through the soul is always deeper than flesh. I tried to envision that type of love through the piece, and the journey through deep connections.

Poem "Mother": I have always viewed Earth as a mother to humans who are children, partially due to how ignorant some children can be, and that is what I depicted thorough the piece. When your own mother/parent figure begins to grow up, it's often the child's responsibility to grow and take care of their parent, but humans haven't reached the point when they are starting to take care of the Earth, and only a few are able to remove the shell of ignorance to figure out what to do.

  • Seeing the world, rather than a thing, but a living being can confidently expresses an active motivator in my writing style and how I view expressions of creativity in the world. It impacts my everyday actions as, rather than treating things objectively, treating a being who has their own character.
