Midnight Glow

Ewan S.

  • Walking through San Francisco at night, the glow from the isolated window illuminated the alleyway. Looking up I wondered who was up so late, what were they doing? What was going on in their life? It provided a small window, literally, to the complexities of everyone's lives—how we all lead separate lives that overlap with other people occasionally but are all ultimately unique at their core. We always compare ourselves to each other too, but this photograph shows that the rare glimpse we see in other people's lives are just the highlights—we never see the full picture, and the rest is shrouded in mystery.

  • During the digital age, the amount of human connection is gradually dwindling. Photography is a medium that allows me to communicate emotion and relatability through a lens that can reach anybody, no matter their background, character, or stereotype.
