Is It Really That Hard

Finn F.

  • "Is It Really That Hard?" is a shortened dramatic script that explores queer people's relation to media representation and the concept of love. I wrote this piece as a ten minute play for a school assignment, and decided to cut it down to this newly condensed version of the story.

Personally, as an actor, I'm always in search of a good monologue, so in the conception of this piece, I knew that I wanted to make a story that primarily portrayed the main characters thoughts alongside their actions. I also wanted to make a lighthearted queer show because there really aren't a lot out there.

I think that through this process I have learned that it really isn't that hard to write a relatable queer story, in reality, all it takes is writing from the heart.

  • Exploring and expressing my creativity is really what I center my life around. Whether that be through my writing or through other art forms, such as theatre, being creative is an outlet, it gives me a chance to be myself, even when I'm too scared to do so.
