As a documentary filmmaker, there is a sense of freedom in knowing that what classifies a film as a documentary is so subjective.
Creating documentaries allows me to really dig into my curious and creative nature. It is the one artistic medium I have found that grasps both my love for journalism and appealing visuals mixed with audio.
It is important to me that my work is as authentic to reality as possible. I value developing genuine connections with every person and interviewee involved in the filmmaking process, because if there isn't some type of trust, it clearly shows through the film. I capture real people in real situations because to me, no story is as good as the honest one.

Creating documentaries through the AIM film program at my school allows me to deepen my learning and curiosity, and answer questions about critical local issues. I feel better equipped to take learning into my own hands. I have a greater sense of initiative exploring all aspects of life.
