Colors of Tranquility

Ameya G.

  • I was very inspired to draw a piece of a person who symbolizes peace or love to stray away from my usual mandalas and intricate work. Nevertheless, I ended up using both intricacy and color, key elements in my previous pieces, in my view of the Buddha. 'Colors of Tranquility' features tranquil Buddha with a burst of colors. The Buddha is a symbol for peace and therefore I made the face calm but the burst of colors shows a new, creative and blissful part of Buddha. I wanted Buddha's hair to be unique too as it is an integral part of how I view his image and I made it intricate and fairly complex to express beauty even in complexity and it can also be viewed as a sea of knowledge in his hair. I learned a lot from this piece and I had a lot of fun seeing which colors and patterns go well together. This piece is made with colored pencils, pencil, and a fine tip pen.

  • Exploring creativity has become an indispensable part of my life to help me express myself through color and intricacy. I have discovered another side of me through art and in turn, it has had a therapeutic effect on me.
