In almost all the pieces of work that I write, I ask myself a "what if". 'What if I write about meteorites being meatballs?' or 'What if I wrote about a child with no name?'. Most of the time these "what ifs" are used in fiction, but my piece reflects on a theoretical that was once possible, 'What if I wrote to my great-grandmother?”
My great-grandmother is someone who I don't know much about. She grew up marginalized in a non-English-speaking country. Not much was known about her in the first place. All I know is her full maiden name, what she looked like, and what province of her country she was from. I was very frustrated over how little I knew about this woman, she was almost mythic to me. Because of this wonder, I decided that instead of asking those who knew her in the 60s, I would ask her myself. In the original writing process, there were Spanish translations above the English, however, these were cut to fit the word count for this submission.

From a young age, I've had one perspective on art. Art is everything I see through my eyes, intentional or unintentional. Without art, the world would be black and white. It impacts me in every aspect of my life, and every aspect of my life is reflected in my art.
