I love the beauty of nature, and paintings capturing it have always caught my eye. When I visited the Grand Canyon, I was inspired by the many artworks that I saw in Historic Kolb Studio, an art museum there. I enjoy capturing realistic scenes because it helps improve my technical skills and eye for detail. I felt that painting this cottage in the snow would be the perfect challenge for me. With this painting, I want to bring forth a feeling of serenity and tranquility. To encourage that image to mind, I chose to use more washed out colors, rather than bold ones.

It has served as a way to get my frustrations out in a healthy manner and as a method of communication. Exploring my creativity has also come in handy in real life situations, as I am able to think of solutions in a way that I normally wouldn't have thought of.
