Tick Tock

Tick Tock is an exploration of the precarious relationship between time, memory, and storytelling. I wanted to write a book in which time wasn’t some passive way of measuring out life but an active participant that molded lives and safeguarded forgotten pasts. I used the character of Mr. Finch, the clockmaker, to reveal that sometimes there is much more behind time than meets the eye. The core of the story is the mystery surrounding us, and the idea that to learn does not mean mastering a craft but, rather, learning the intangible: finding the hidden stories locked within our world. I chose a young apprentice for the narrator because it reflects the curiosity and wonder of seeing time as something alive-something powerful.

It is the capability of looking beyond normalcy and turning ideas into something fresh and meaningful. It involves incorporating feeling, imagination, and insight into forms that depart from the ordinary and fire association. Creativity, to me, is innovation and expression of self.
