My piece follows the short journey of an extremely bright high school boy who is neurodivergent, both ADHD and on the autism spectrum. He falls behind in school time and time again and his grades do not reflect his intelligence, he hates himself because no one ever sees his true potential. He wonders how far he would be in life if he was not being ”held back” by his differences. But through seeing the alternative reality he finds that all the struggles the be has been drug through in life has made him stronger, grounded, and taught him more in life than he ever could have learned any other way. He sees a future of himself accomplishing something different than his dream, but helping others like him, and he is truly happy.
