• Artist Statement

  I specifically chose to include two sculls, a symbol of death, to juxtapose with flowers and twigs, symbols of life,to represent decay and the process of death. The dark shadows, and bright highlights represent the harshness of death. The contrast of darks, mediums, and lights create a sullen mood that reflect the feelings surrounding the topic of death. Overall, the objects of the piece as well as lighting work together to meditate on death.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity means expressing yourself through different mediums and art techniques. The term also means coming up with interesting and new ways to that don’t necessarily explicitly represent feelings surrounding a topic.
