Marilyn Monroe Icon

  • When I first started this artwork, I didn’t expect it to turn out like this. I did this originally to get an A on my final grade for my art class. So I figured I would choose Marilyn Monroe. I remember growing up and seeing her face in movies and photos, or even hearing my mother talk about her. Her life was full of tragedy and wonder and since I prefer to draw people or things that have depth to them I decided she would be perfect. My favorite part about her is her eyes, I have always believed that people’s eyes were a glimpse into their soul, so I knew I couldn’t mess her’s up. Finished, my art teacher told me to enter this contest, and everyone in my classes agreed. Entering this contest is like an award to my younger self, telling her to keep it all up.

  • Creativity means independence to me. It means letting go of any worries that you may have and bleeding it all out in the form of art. Whether your work turns out incredible or odd, you now have a piece that captures your feelings and emotions, almost like a diary entry.
