flowers and hats

Ian D.

Graphite

  • This artwork draws inspiration from the animal hats I cherished during childhood, symbolizing the enduring connection between our formative years and adulthood. The subjects’ somber expressions, juxtaposed with the imagery of animal hats, reflect the complexities of growth and the emotional weight of transition. The staircase motif represents upward movement and personal evolution, while the inclusion of yarn—abstractly forming floral shapes—emphasizes the childhood we bring we with us as we grow.

  • Through painting, I’ve learned to embrace experimentation and creativity. Each stroke feels like a quiet discovery, revealing layers I hadn’t expected. Painting has become my way of exploring ideas without words, a reflection of how I’ve learned to trust subtle instincts and let my work evolve naturally.
