Someone once said to me that going through a challenge in life is like being in a dark cloud, and forgetting that above it there is a clear and beautiful sky. With this piece, I hope to capture the feeling of a looming mass above you, the determination to march forward, and the beautiful sky above it. The piece opens with a solo, as a shift in the air warns of a storm incoming. The piece transitions into a dark and dramatic crescendo, which slips into a determined march. As the piece jumps into a faster frenzied tempo, it rushes and climaxes, eventually leaving behind nothing but a scrap of wind and a change in the air. This piece is a journey through the emotions of facing an impossible challenge and pushing through, until one comes out of the other side realizing what they did it for.

To me, creativity means expressing oneself in a way that is unique. When people can show their emotions and soul through art like music in a way that is unique to them, that’s the core of creativity. Everybody has something to offer, and distilling that into art is creativity.
