Alone Together

  • In my piece ”Alone Together,” I combined watercolor and colored pencil to depict individuals isolated in bubbles, separated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The surrounding virus shapes highlight the sense of distance and confinement. I felt incredibly alone during this time and turned to digital interactions as the closest alternative to real-life connection. I incorporated LED lights and a physical circuit to convey this, representing the digital devices that kept us connected. Using Adobe Photoshop, I layered the circuit beneath the surface-level artwork, allowing viewers to see both the technology and the traditional art. This mix of media reflects the paradox of being physically distant yet digitally connected—united by the glow of our screens. The piece captures how, during the pandemic, our relationships shifted and adapted as digital interaction became a crucial lifeline, bridging the gap between isolation and connection.

  • To me, creativity is about using the materials and tools at hand to tell a meaningful story or convey a message. It’s the process of finding new ways to combine elements, whether through traditional art or technology, to create something that speaks to people and sparks connection.
