1940's Marine Portrait

Andy H.

Acrylic on Canvas

  • I have interest in history, this piece is apart of a larger series of 10 paintings about unknown people in American History. This portrait is specifically of a US Marine during World War II who's name is unknown. The entire series includes photographs of people whose information can’t be easily located or doesn’t exist publicly. The purpose is to show that our entire worlds history is also shaped by those who experienced daily life, not just the famous and spectacular. These unknown individuals who are part of modern America are just as important as the president, and deserve their own hand crafted portraits.

  • Creativity is a way to express how I see and feel around me that have no words in a language.
