Three if Poems

Sienna W.

  • I have always used the word "if" in the titles of my poems. It was often unconsciously done, and I believe I unknowingly placed it there as a safety net, a precaution, an easy way of avoiding questions some might have about the content of my poetry. "It was simply hypothetical" I could say. "I was writing from an imagined characters perspective." This may or may not be true depending on the poem, but I have always hoped that those reading my poetry would form their own opinions, interpreting the words while searching deeper within themselves rather than focusing on what I meant when writing it. This three-poem collection perfectly encompesses the rawness and truth of my own poetry, as well as its versatility, the way it can resonate deeply with the writers and the readers for completely different reasons.

  • Poetry is creating something genuine and beautiful from our flawed, authentic selves. Creativity is the name of a language we innately know, but often forget to utilize. For me, creativity has proven itself as an outlet for unraveling the myriad of emotions that come with simply living.
