I'm Not Thanking You

Claire W.

  • Growing up, I was a big people-pleaser. This would often result in me not being able to draw boundaries or confront friends. As a cathartic way to release my regret of not being able to stand up for myself, I wrote this monologue. This monologue is fierce and funny, something I aspire to channel more in the future. It is a compilation of things I wish I’d said in the moment to the friends who didn't treat me like a true friend should.

  • Creativity is the heart of my life, whether I’m acting or solving math equations. I started with Legos and paper airplanes, which have since turned into poetry and performing. However, the greatest gift creativity has given me is this secret: creativity is everywhere, you just have to go find it.
