Case of the Stolen Christmas Card

Anonymous

  • This story is based on a memory my grandmother related to me from her childhood in Taiwan in the 1950s. She told me that at the time, Taiwan did not make its own greeting cards, so the cards that were sent from America were very previous. The beauty of the card and the fear she felt at being falsely accused seared this memory into her mind to be told years later. However, details did fade from her memory with time, so some parts came from my own imagination and others were embellished.

  • Exploring and expressing my creativity helps me understand and accept myself. When I write stories, fictional or not, I learn more about my own perceptions and ideals through the pieces of the story that reflect myself.
