The first annual recognition program will be included as a component the Italian Street Painting Marin event in downtown San Rafael on June 6 and 7, 2020. Italian Street Painting Marin is a celebration of creative spirit and live artistry and the Creative Youth Celebration will expand the scope of the ISPM event and enhance the reach of the BACF to local audiences that crave creativity but have trouble finding it in today’s world. Preparation of the first program is scheduled to begin November 2019. Program related activity will run through the entire 2019-2020 school year and will end in June of 2020.
The first program will recognize Bay Area middle school and high school students in the area of visual arts, photography, music composition and music performance. The program will develop and expand into other areas over time. Submissions of creativity will be sought from schools and will be reviewed, and awards provided to the best creative efforts to help encourage and support further work by young minds.
The Bay Area Creative Foundation is initiating a program, the Creative Youth Celebration, to recognize and support creativity in young people that might be overlooked and underappreciated in today’s world. Creativity recognition awards will be developed that will recognize the region’s young artists, musicians and scientists that have begun to create their own art/music/science. The goal is to increase the awareness of the importance of creativity in all of our lives and encourage these young creatives by acknowledging that they have a special place in the world and are valued by their community.
